John Nakei

John Banga Nakei is the Ag. Head of Clusters and Partnerships at the Agricultural Growth Corridors of Tanzania (AGCOT). He has over 11 years of experience working with the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT), where he began his career in June 2014 as an Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist. In this role, he coordinated green growth actors within the SAGCOT Partnership and served as the Secretary to the National Green Reference Group (GRG)—a platform dedicated to integrating green growth principles into partner operations and developing practical tools to guide sustainable agricultural transformation. This experience has instrumental in advancing environmental sustainability, social inclusivity, and business viability in the SAGCOT corridor and Tanzania’s agricultural landscape.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture General from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania, and a Master’s in Public Policy from Yonsei University, South Korea, with a specialization in Rural Development Studies. At AGCOT, he leads efforts to strengthen partnerships and coordination across agricultural clusters, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth along Tanzania’s key agricultural corridors. He is passionate about connecting stakeholders and translating green growth principles into tangible impacts for farming communities and agribusinesses.
